JAMB CAPS Update: Candidates Must Now Accept or Reject Proposed Admission via 55019 or 66019 Candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions are advised to pay close attention to a significant stage now appearing on the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) for the 2026/2027 admission exercise. OGB Admission Hub has observed that some candidates are now seeing the status: “You have been PROPOSED for admission by your institution.” When this appears, the candidate is required to either accept or reject the proposed admission before the process can be completed. JAMB’s admission process provides that candidates themselves must personally confirm their admission decision. The Board officially introduced the use of its short codes 55019 and 66019 , or biometric confirmation at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre/JAMB office, to prevent institutions, cybercafés or other third parties from accepting or rejecting admission on behalf of candidates. How to Accept or Reject a Proposed Admission Candidates who have been proposed for admission should use the same phone number linked to their JAMB profile and: Send ACCEPT to 55019 or 66019 to accept the admission. Send REJECT to 55019 or 66019 if they do not want the admission. Alternatively, candidates can visit an accredited JAMB CBT centre or JAMB office to complete the process using their fingerprint. Candidates should therefore understand that seeing “PROPOSED for admission” is a very positive development, but it is not a stage to ignore .
