JAMB Gives Candidates August 31 Deadline to Accept or Reject Pending Admissions
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued an important warning to candidates with unresolved admission offers from previous admission cycles. According to a report by Vanguard, candidates with pending admission offers from the 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 admission cycles have been given until August 31, 2026 to either accept or reject the offers on JAMB CAPS. JAMB warned that candidates who fail to take the necessary action before the deadline may risk forfeiting the admission offer . Who Is Affected? This directive mainly affects candidates whose admission offers from previous years are still showing as pending on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) . In other words, candidates from the 2020 to 2025 admission cycles who have not yet accepted or rejected an admission offer should urgently check their JAMB profiles. The warning is particularly important for candidates who may have abandoned an old admission, changed institutions, changed courses, or simply failed to respond to an offer previously made to them. What Candidates Should Do Affected candidates are expected to log into their JAMB profiles and access JAMB CAPS to check whether there is any admission offer awaiting action. Candidates who wish to take up the admission should select Accept Admission . Those who no longer want the admission should select Reject Admission . JAMB advised candidates not to wait until the final day before taking action. What Is JAMB CAPS? JAMB CAPS is the platform through which candidates can monitor their admission status and respond to admission offers made by tertiary institutions. Through CAPS, candidates can see whether they have been admitted and decide whether to accept or reject the offer. What Happens If You Ignore the Deadline? JAMB warned that candidates who leave previous admission offers unresolved beyond August 31, 2026 may lose the opportunity attached to those offers. Candidates are therefore advised to resolve any pending admission before the deadline. Does This Affect 2026 Admission Candidates? The current warning is specifically directed at candidates with pending offers from the 2020–2025 admission cycles . Fresh 2026 admission seekers should therefore not confuse this directive with the ongoing 2026/2027 admission exercise. However, candidates applying for 2026 admission who still have an old unresolved offer on CAPS should check and resolve it immediately to avoid possible complications. How to Check Your Admission Status on JAMB CAPS Candidates can follow these steps: Log into the JAMB e-Facility portal. Open the Check Admission Status section. Access CAPS . Click on Admission Status . Check whether an admission offer is pending. Select Accept if you want the admission. Select Reject if you do not want it. Confirm the action before leaving the portal. Candidates should make sure they are acting on the correct admission record before confirming any decision. OGB Admission Hub Advice Candidates with old admission offers should not ignore this warning. If you wrote JAMB between 2020 and 2025 , log into your CAPS and confirm that you do not have an unresolved admission waiting for your response. Do not assume that because you did not attend the school, the offer has automatically disappeared. The safest approach is to check your profile and resolve any pending admission before August 31, 2026 . Quick Summary Affected Admission Years: 2020–2025 Action Required: Accept or Reject pending admission Platform: JAMB CAPS Deadline: August 31, 2026 Consequence of Inaction: Possible forfeiture of the admission offer.
