JAMB Releases 279 Previously Withheld 2026 UTME Results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of 279 results from the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) that were earlier withheld over suspected examination malpractice. JAMB disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday by its Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, explaining that the decision followed ongoing investigations into irregularities recorded during the examination. According to the board, some candidates were cleared after investigations showed no sufficient evidence linking them to malpractice, while results of candidates found culpable were cancelled. JAMB also stated that several results from centres flagged by its monitoring team for suspicious activities are still under review and will remain withheld until investigations are concluded. The examination body warned that any candidate eventually found guilty of malpractice would have their result cancelled. Candidates whose results were previously withheld have been advised to recheck their status by sending “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration. The 2026 UTME was conducted across accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide, with over two million candidates participating in the examination.
