Academically outstanding young Nigerian women who have secured admission into a public university can apply for the 2026 Female Scholars Foundation Scholarship .

The programme offers successful candidates university sponsorship alongside mentoring and career-development opportunities. For a bright student whose family is struggling with education costs, this is an opportunity to seek support through an application that carries no application fee .

Applications opened on 1 October 2026 and close on 31 December 2026 , according to the foundation’s current announcement.

Who can apply?

Applicants must meet the foundation’s published requirements:

Be female and 20 years old or younger .

Have graduated from a public secondary school .

Have gained admission into a public university .

Have scored at least 240 in the 2026 JAMB UTME .

Have at least five distinctions, A1–B3, in WAEC or NECO .

The foundation’s work focuses on supporting young women facing barriers to university education, including those in underserved communities.

What does the scholarship cover?

The foundation describes its support as including university tuition, an annual allowance for accommodation and textbooks, and a monthly stipend. Scholars also receive mentorship and networking support, with internship and career opportunities through the foundation’s network.

The official pages reviewed do not give a fixed naira amount for the stipend or every allowance. Successful candidates should read their award letters for the funding details and conditions attached to their offers. Career support should not be interpreted as a guaranteed job.

Documents and information to prepare

The sponsor’s FAQ lists examination results, a JAMB result, admission evidence, a completed application and an essay among the application materials.

Applicants who do not yet have their admission letter can consult the foundation’s instructions on using a screenshot of their JAMB admission status. The original admission letter will be required after an award.

NECO results are accepted, although the foundation says WAEC is preferred. Applicants should follow the current form’s instructions and ensure their names, examination details and admission information are consistent.

What should applicants write in their essay?

OGB Admission Hub’s preparation advice: explain your academic journey, the course you intend to study, your education goals and why financial support would make a difference. Use specific, truthful examples of responsibility, leadership or community participation. Avoid invented hardship stories and copied personal statements.

Parents and teachers can help students check document clarity and spelling, while allowing each applicant’s own experience and voice to remain clear.

Is the application really free?

Yes. The foundation states that it does not charge an application fee. Meeting the requirements allows a student to apply; it does not guarantee selection.

Award holders must meet the conditions in their scholarship letters, including academic and mentorship requirements. Applicants who already receive another scholarship should disclose it for assessment.
