Editorial review note — 28 October 2026. This is a procedural guide to a result-checking service, not a seller of WAEC PINs or a promise that all candidate results are available. Follow WAEC's own current instructions and keep your PIN private. Check the referenced official source . This original report may discuss a historical notice. Its old body has not been independently fact-checked line by line.
How to Check WAEC 2026 Result: Official Portal and New PIN Retrieval Method
Candidates who participated in the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School Candidates can check their results online once the West African Examinations Council officially activates the results.
WAEC had previously indicated that the 2026 WASSCE results were scheduled for release on August 3, 2026. Candidates should, however, rely on an official WAEC announcement and avoid fake result-checking websites.
This guide explains how to retrieve your WAEC Result Checker PIN and Serial Number, check your result, print it and resolve common problems.
Requirements for checking the 2026 WAEC result
Before checking your result, ensure that you have the following:
Your 10-digit WAEC examination number
Examination year: 2026
Examination type: School Candidate Result
WAEC Result Checker PIN
Result Checker Serial Number
A phone or computer with an internet connection
Your examination number consists of your seven-digit examination centre number followed by your three-digit candidate number.
New method for retrieving your WAEC PIN and Serial Number
WAEC now provides an online platform where school candidates can retrieve the PIN and Serial Number required to check their results.
Follow these steps:
Visit the official WAEC PIN Retrieval Portal:
https://serial-pin.waec.org/
Select the option for School Candidates.
Enter your candidate or examination number.
Supply the required verification information.
Submit the information and retrieve your WAEC Result Checker PIN and Serial Number.
Save or write down the details carefully before proceeding to the result-checking portal.
Candidates should not share their PIN or Serial Number publicly because another person may use the details to access their results.
How to check the WAEC 2026 result online
After retrieving your PIN and Serial Number, follow these steps:
Visit the official WAEC result-checking portal:
https://www.waecdirect.org/
Enter your 10-digit WAEC examination number.
Select 2026 as the examination year.
Select School Candidate Result as the examination type.
Enter your Result Checker Serial Number.
Enter your WAEC Result Checker PIN.
Confirm that all the information is correct.
Click Submit and wait for your result to appear.
The portal may experience heavy traffic immediately after the results are released. If the page fails to load, wait for a while and try again. Do not repeatedly enter incorrect information.
How to check through the WAEC mobile application
Candidates may also use the WAEC Result Checker application available for supported mobile devices.
You will still need:
Examination number
Examination year
Examination type
Result Checker PIN
Serial Number
Only download the application from a recognised mobile application store. Check the publisher’s information carefully before entering your examination details.
How to print or save your WAEC result
Once your result appears:
Check your name and examination number.
Confirm that all your subjects and grades are displayed.
Select the print option on the result page.
Choose “Save as PDF” to keep an electronic copy.
Print at least one clear copy for admission processing.
The online result printout is not the same as the original WAEC certificate. School candidates will eventually collect their original certificates through their respective schools.
Meaning of common WAEC result messages
Result Outstanding
This means that one or more subjects are still being processed. Candidates should continue checking the portal for updates.
Result Withheld
A withheld result is usually connected to an investigation into a reported examination irregularity. It does not automatically mean that the result has been permanently cancelled.
School candidates should communicate with WAEC through their school principals when clarification is required.
No Result for This Candidate
Check that you selected 2026 and entered the correct examination number and examination type. Examination numbers can be reused in different years, so selecting the wrong year may display an incorrect result or an error.
Result Held
This may indicate that the result has been temporarily restricted pending further investigation or resolution of an administrative issue.
Some Subjects Are Missing
A partial result may occur because some subjects are still being processed or because of errors associated with the candidate’s examination records. Candidates should contact their schools for assistance.
Important warning to candidates
WAEC does not upgrade results. Anyone promising to change grades, release withheld results or manipulate the WAEC database is attempting to defraud you.
Candidates should:
Use only official WAEC websites.
Avoid clicking suspicious result-checking links.
Never send a PIN to an unknown social-media account.
Confirm the examination year before submitting.
Avoid paying anyone for “result upgrading.”
Keep the downloaded result in a secure location.
What to do after checking your WAEC result
After confirming your grades, ensure that you have the correct O’Level subjects for your proposed university course.
