JAMB–WAEC ₦4,000 Verification Fee: What the September 2026 Report Covers

Punch reported on 1 September 2026 that JAMB and WAEC had agreed on a one-off ₦4,000 WASSCE result-verification arrangement for the admission process covered by their announcement. The report attributed the arrangement to a joint statement by the two bodies.
This is a dated report about a particular verification charge. It should not be interpreted as abolishing every school screening fee or automatically setting the fee for other examination bodies.
Check what a payment is for
When asked to pay, identify whether the charge concerns result verification, an institution’s application, screening or another service. Similar labels on different payment pages can cause confusion. Ask for the written basis and official payment route rather than assuming that every later charge is either valid or fraudulent.
The reported arrangement was intended to avoid repeated verification payments for the covered WAEC result and make the verified record available within the relevant admission process. Applicants should keep evidence of a completed payment and confirmation of verification.
If you receive a duplicate demand
Compare the result, candidate details and purpose of the two requests. Contact the institution or examination body through its published channels for clarification before paying again. Share only the details needed to resolve the issue; do not disclose account passwords or one-time codes.
Reviewed, 26 October 2026: Added the report’s date and attribution, clarified the WASSCE scope and removed wording that could imply every admission-related charge had ended. Consult current official instructions before making a payment.
