JAMB CAPS 2026/2027 Admission Update: More Names Reflect as Institutions Process Admission Lists in Batches

Published: 2 November 2026 By OGB Admission Hub
Candidates seeking admission into Nigerian universities, polytechnics and other tertiary institutions are advised to continue monitoring their Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) accounts for updates relating to the 2026/2027 admission exercise.
The admission process has involved institutions submitting candidates' names for consideration and approval through CAPS. Because admission processing can occur in batches, candidates applying to the same institution may receive different admission status updates at different times.
An applicant whose status has not changed should not automatically conclude that admission has been denied. However, candidates must also consider the admission deadlines applicable to their institutions.
Institutions Confirm Batch Uploads on JAMB CAPS
One institution that has publicly confirmed this process is the Federal University Lokoja.
In its official notice dated 15 October 2026, the university announced that it had commenced uploading admissions to the 2026/2027 JAMB CAPS platform.
The institution explained that admissions would be processed in batches and advised applicants to check their JAMB e-Facility accounts regularly.
The notice also addressed candidates offered admission into a different programme from their original choice. Such applicants were instructed to respond to the programme-transfer offer before accepting the subsequent admission offer.
Federal University Lokoja specifically instructed its candidates to respond to transfer or admission offers within 48 hours. Candidates at other institutions should follow the deadlines communicated by their respective schools.
The University's announcement confirms that admission updates do not necessarily reach all applicants simultaneously.
University of Ibadan Begins Acceptance Fee Process for Admitted Candidates
Another development comes from the University of Ibadan, which has announced arrangements for candidates offered admission for the 2026/2027 academic session.
According to the university's official notice, candidates who have received admission and generated their admission letters through CAPS can proceed with acceptance fee payment.
The university stated that its acceptance fee is ₦50,000 and that the admission portal would be open from 2 November to 30 November 2026 .
This notice applies to candidates already offered admission. It does not establish that the university is releasing a new general admission batch on 2 November.
Candidates should always verify their admission status and follow their institution's official instructions before making any payment.
How to Check Your 2026/2027 Admission Status on JAMB CAPS
Candidates can check their admission status by following these steps:
Visit the official JAMB e-Facility website at https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/ .
Log in using the email address and password associated with your JAMB profile.
Select Check Admission Status .
Choose the relevant examination year and proceed to Access My CAPS , where available.
Select Admission Status to view your current admission information.
If you have received an offer, review the institution and programme carefully before accepting or rejecting it.
Candidates using smartphones who cannot see the full CAPS menu may try their browser's desktop-site setting or visit an accredited JAMB CBT centre for assistance.
Never share your JAMB password, security codes or account access with an unauthorised person.
What Different Admission Statuses Mean
Not Admitted: Your account does not currently show an approved admission offer. This does not, by itself, explain whether your application is still being considered.
Admission in Progress: Admission processing has started or is undergoing further checks. It should not be treated as a final admission offer.
Recommended or Proposed: Your institution may have recommended you for admission, but additional review or approval may still be necessary.
Admitted: An admission offer has been approved and is available for you to respond to through CAPS.
Candidates should rely on the exact information displayed in their personal CAPS account rather than screenshots circulated through social media.
What to Do if Your Name Has Not Appeared
If you are still awaiting admission, take the following steps.
1. Verify your O'Level results. Confirm that your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB results have been uploaded successfully and are available for admission consideration.
2. Check your institution's official portal. Some institutions publish screening results, admission updates or further instructions separately from JAMB CAPS.
3. Review Transfer Approval. A candidate may have been offered a different programme. An unresolved transfer offer can affect subsequent admission processing.
4. Confirm your application details. Verify your school choice, course selection, UTME subject combination and required admission qualifications.
5. Seek clarification where necessary. If your institution has announced that you were shortlisted but CAPS has not reflected the admission, contact the institution's admission office or use JAMB's official support channels.
Candidates should not pay anyone who claims to have special access to upload their names or guarantee admission.
Important 2026/2027 Admission Deadlines
JAMB previously announced the following deadlines for institutions to complete their 2026/2027 admissions:
Institution category
Announced deadline
Public universities
31 October 2026
Private universities
30 November 2026
Other tertiary institutions
31 December 2026
As of 2 November 2026, the announced public university deadline has passed. Candidates should therefore not assume that public universities have received a general extension unless JAMB or the institution officially confirms one.
Applicants should continue checking their personal CAPS accounts for any pending offers and follow verified institutional instructions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Not Admitted mean I have lost my admission opportunity?
Not necessarily. The status only confirms that an approved admission offer is not currently displayed. Your actual prospects depend on the institution's admission decisions, available places, eligibility requirements and applicable deadlines.
Can my school offer admission before it appears on JAMB CAPS?
An institution may publish a provisional selection notice before the corresponding approval appears on CAPS. Candidates should follow up to ensure their admission is processed through JAMB's recognised system.
Should I accept a transfer offer?
First consider whether you want the new programme. A transfer should not be accepted merely because it has appeared on CAPS. Check the course carefully and seek clarification if necessary.
Must I visit a CBT centre to check my admission?
Candidates can normally access available e-Facility services online. However, an accredited CBT centre or JAMB office may assist when a candidate encounters technical problems or institution-specific verification requirements.
