JAMB CAPS 2026/2027: Monitoring Admission Offers and Transfers

Editorial review note — 28 October 2026. This is guidance on the CAPS admission process, not proof that every university has uploaded its admissions. Only the candidate's official JAMB CAPS account and institution notices confirm a specific offer. Check the referenced official source . This original report may discuss a historical notice. Its old body has not been independently fact-checked line by line.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has activated the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) for the 2026/2027 admission exercise, giving millions of UTME and Direct Entry candidates access to monitor and process their admission status online. CAPS is the official platform through which all admissions into Nigerian tertiary institutions are processed and confirmed.
Candidates are advised to begin monitoring their CAPS dashboard regularly, as universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions will gradually upload admission lists in batches.
What is JAMB CAPS?
The Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) was introduced by JAMB to ensure a transparent, merit-based, and centralized admission process across Nigeria's tertiary institutions.
Through CAPS, candidates can:
Check their admission status.
Accept or reject admission offers.
Monitor admission progress.
View course transfer recommendations.
Confirm uploaded O'Level results.
Track admission updates from their chosen institution.
Why CAPS is Important
Receiving admission from your institution alone is not enough .
For your admission to become valid, it must:
Be processed through JAMB CAPS.
Be accepted by you on CAPS.
Reflect on your JAMB Admission Status.
Failure to complete these steps may lead to complications during school clearance, NYSC mobilization, or future academic verification.
How to Check Your Admission Status on JAMB CAPS
Follow these steps carefully:
Visit the JAMB e-Facility portal.
Log in using your registered email address and password.
Click "Check Admission Status."
Select your examination year.
Click "Access My CAPS."
Open "Admission Status."
If admitted, click Accept Admission or Reject Admission as appropriate.
Mobile Users: If you are using a smartphone, enable Desktop Site in your browser to access all CAPS features.
Meaning of Different CAPS Status
1. Not Admitted
This simply means no admission has been offered yet. Continue checking regularly.
2. Admission in Progress
Your institution is currently processing your admission. No action is required yet except regular monitoring.
3. Recommended
Your institution has recommended you for admission while awaiting final approval.
4. Admitted
Congratulations! You should immediately accept or reject the admission on CAPS.
Candidates with Awaiting Results
If you registered with Awaiting Result (AR) and your WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB result is now available, upload it immediately at an accredited JAMB CBT Centre.
Remember:
No uploaded O'Level result = No admission. JAMB has made this requirement mandatory for all candidates.
Course Transfer Approval
Some institutions may recommend a different course if you do not meet the requirements for your original choice.
Whenever this happens:
Review the proposed course carefully.
Accept or reject the transfer through the Transfer Approval section on CAPS.
Ignoring this request may delay or prevent your admission.
Important Advice to All Candidates
Check CAPS at least twice every week.
Ensure your O'Level result has been uploaded successfully.
Do not ignore course transfer notifications.
Accept your admission immediately once offered.
Print your JAMB Admission Letter after accepting admission.
Follow your institution's screening and registration instructions afterward.
