JAMB NIPEDS Explained: A-Level Records, Direct Entry Data Alignment and CAPS

Editorially revised on 28 October 2026. This independently rewritten edition corrects or clarifies the older OGB report. All dates and requirements below refer to the academic session stated; verify new notices before paying fees or applying.

What NIPEDS does

JAMB operates the Nigeria Integrated Post-Secondary Education Data System (NIPEDS) as a framework for records contributed by participating examination and awarding bodies. Its administrative and examination-body portals support record submission and management, and its Third-Party A-Level Data Alignment Platform (TALDAP) helps candidates reconcile certain advanced-level qualification details used in Direct Entry processing.

Important correction to the earlier headline

Our earlier report stated that all Direct Entry admission processing must pass through NIPEDS . The existence of the platform does not by itself establish that every applicant must personally use NIPEDS to obtain an admission offer. JAMB CAPS remains the official system through which admission offers are processed. Candidates should follow the instructions relevant to their actual qualification and awarding body rather than pay an unverified NIPEDS agent.

How to avoid mistakes

Enter your personal information consistently, make sure your advanced-level subjects and grades match genuine records, and use JAMB's official links and support channel if your data do not align. For entry conditions, check the university's approved Direct Entry requirements and current JAMB guide.
