ASUU suspends its strike at LASU, LASUED and LASUSTECH. LASUED announces October 12, 2026, for the resumption of academic activities.
ASUU Suspends Strike in Lagos State Universities; LASUED to Resume October 12 By OGB AdmissionHub | October 10, 2026 The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suspended its strike in three Lagos State-owned universities: Lagos State University (LASU), Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), and Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH). According to Politics Nigeria , the suspension was announced on Friday, October 9, 2026, with lecturers directed to return to work. Discussions with the Lagos State Government will continue over outstanding welfare demands. LASUED Announces Resumption Date In a separate notice, ASUU-LASUED confirmed that academic activities will resume on Monday, October 12, 2026 . The decision followed the chapter’s congress held on Thursday, October 8. Members welcomed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s approval of certain academic staff allowances, including CATA, Earned Academic Allowances and professorial allowances. However, the chapter said other matters, including the Lagos Factor Allowance and provisions concerning retired professors, still require further discussion. It resolved to suspend the strike while continuing to pursue these demands. What Students Should Do Now Students should check their university’s official communication channels for updated lecture schedules, examination timetables and other instructions. For LASUED students, the announced date for restarting academic activities is October 12. Students at LASU and LASUSTECH should confirm their own schedules through their departments and university management. Returning students should review pending assignments and prepare for classes. Admission applicants should also monitor their school portals for any screening, registration or clearance updates. This announcement concerns ASUU branches in the three Lagos State-owned universities. It should not be treated as an announcement ending a nationwide ASUU strike or confirming the status of other staff unions.
