Post-UTME Screening in Nigeria: Requirements, Forms and Admission Guide

Post-UTME is an institution-specific screening process used by some Nigerian tertiary institutions after UTME. It is not the same as sitting for JAMB UTME. An institution may conduct a computer-based test, a document screening exercise, an online assessment or another admission process. The exact method and eligibility rules must be confirmed for your chosen school, programme and admission year.

OGB Admission Hub helps prospective students across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory find institutions, review available entry requirements, calculate published admission aggregates and follow applications. OGB is an independent admission support service, not an official university or JAMB portal.

What to do before buying a Post-UTME or screening form

  1. Identify the correct institution and course. Use the national school directory to find universities, polytechnics and colleges of nursing by state. Confirm the official institution website before applying.
  2. Check basic admission eligibility. Review JAMB subjects, UTME score and O'Level credits for the exact programme. Use the UTME eligibility checker as guidance, and verify current requirements with the school and JAMB.
  3. Find the official screening announcement. Confirm the academic session, whether your school is accepting applications, the fee and deadline. Visit admission forms still open and use the linked official source; a listing is not proof that a form is open today.
  4. Prepare your records. Schools may request a JAMB result slip, valid O'Level results, registration details, passport photo and other documents. Use the exact current instructions issued by the institution.
  5. Apply through the approved school portal. Use the school’s published payment and submission procedure. Keep your receipts and application number. Avoid agents who promise guaranteed admission or ask for passwords and one-time codes.
  6. Track screening and admission updates. Check official notices, the institution's portal and your JAMB CAPS status when applicable. Do not confuse an application acknowledgement with an admission offer.

How is a Post-UTME aggregate score calculated?

There is no single aggregate formula shared by all Nigerian tertiary institutions. Some schools combine JAMB UTME marks with a Post-UTME assessment, while others use O'Level grades, screening points or different weights. Departmental criteria and catchment considerations may also apply where published.

Use the OGB school-specific admission calculator after selecting your institution and course. It provides a result where OGB has an available verified formula; when a rule has not been established, do not treat a guessed aggregate as official.

Post-UTME and admission guidance by institution type

Universities

Browse Nigerian federal, state and private universities. Check whether the institution uses a Post-UTME examination, online screening or another method, and whether the current departmental requirements are available.

Polytechnics

Browse polytechnics in Nigeria for National Diploma entry routes. Higher National Diploma normally follows a separate application process, and must not automatically be treated as a UTME screening application.

Colleges and schools of nursing

Browse nursing institutions and check the requirements for the exact nursing programme. Admission procedures differ, and a directory entry does not establish programme accreditation or an open application period.

Where can Nigerian students find Post-UTME updates?

Start with your institution's official admission page and the latest credible notice. OGB also publishes Nigerian admission news, verified application-form notices and school-specific admission alerts. Always verify dates, fees and instructions directly before taking action.

Frequently asked questions about Post-UTME

Does every university conduct a written Post-UTME test?

No. Screening methods vary. Some institutions use a CBT examination, while others screen based on submitted records or other approved processes. Follow the announcement for your exact school and academic session.

Can I apply to a nursing college or polytechnic with my JAMB score?

Entry rules depend on the institution and programme. Check whether JAMB is required, any accepted alternative qualification, the O'Level subjects and the institution’s official current notice.

Can an admission consultant guarantee admission?

No. Only the relevant institution and admission authorities can make official admission decisions. OGB can assist with eligibility review, application preparation, document verification and progress updates but cannot guarantee a place.

How do I prepare for the next UTME before Post-UTME?

Use the 2027 JAMB CBT preparation guide and study centre to build a practice routine. Confirm current examination timetables with JAMB rather than relying on unofficial dates.
