JAMB 2026/2027 Official Minimum Admission Scores: Universities 150, Nursing 150, Polytechnics 100

Editorial clarification reviewed 28 October 2026. Earlier versions of this report listed different universities with exact claimed cut-off marks but did not link a verifiable official institution-by-institution source. This updated report explains the scores that JAMB actually confirms at national level and the distinction between those scores and an individual school's requirements.
JAMB's 2026/2027 minimum tolerable admission scores
At its 2026 admissions policy meeting, JAMB and representatives of tertiary institutions approved minimum admissible UTME scores for different institution categories:
Institution category 2026 minimum UTME score
Universities 150
Colleges of Nursing Sciences 150
Polytechnics and monotechnics 100
Colleges of Agriculture and Colleges of Education 100
Innovation Enterprise Institutions 100
JAMB also states that the minimum age for entry into tertiary institutions remains 16 years . These are minimum admissible scores , not a promise of admission.
Does scoring 150 guarantee university admission?
No. A university may set a higher screening threshold, and a competitive programme may apply additional departmental or aggregate conditions. A candidate who scores 150 may meet the national floor but still fail to satisfy a chosen university's advertised minimum or a particular course's subject requirements.
Why one nationwide list can be misleading
The institution's own notice and current admission policy determine its particular conditions. A published overall UTME score and a programme's screening aggregate can be entirely different measurements. Before choosing a school, check its official admission portal, required UTME and O'Level subject combinations, any Post-UTME process, and relevant course-specific cut-offs. Verify the academic year of the source, especially where an older news article uses the phrase 'cut-off mark released'.
How candidates can check their options
Start with JAMB's national floor for your intended institution category.
Find the selected institution's latest official admissions announcement to identify its own screening benchmark.
Confirm your specific programme's subjects and any additional scoring rules.
Use OGB's eligibility checker for preliminary guidance and the aggregate calculator only when the particular scoring formula is verified.
