JAMB Direct Entry: May 2026 Registration Extension — Archived Notice

Historical notice | Reviewed 26 October 2026
A report published by The Sun on 8 May 2026 described an extension of JAMB’s Direct Entry registration deadline to 22 May 2026 , following an earlier extension to 8 May.
The report attributed the extra time to difficulties some applicants faced obtaining the documents needed for registration. This article preserves that dated development; it does not confirm that the same window remains open or that 22 May was the final deadline after every later announcement.
Why the date needs context
A registration deadline belongs to a particular announcement and stage of an admission cycle. An older extension is not authority to register after that date, and a later university screening window does not necessarily reopen JAMB registration.
Before acting on a forwarded notice, check the publication date, the admission year, the issuing organisation and whether a subsequent notice changes the instruction. Ask JAMB about its registration arrangements and ask your chosen institution about its separate screening requirements.
What to keep ready
Organise your qualification records, O-level information and registration evidence. Confirm any verification or transcript instructions that apply to your qualification. Pay only through an officially specified process and retain a receipt that identifies the service purchased.
Do not pay an intermediary claiming that an archived news article proves a closed portal can still be accessed. For current institutional screening notices, use OGB’s forms tracker and follow each linked official source.
Correction: The earlier version used active-registration language without clearly labelling the notice as historical. That wording has been removed. The source here is the named newspaper report, rather than a newly verified JAMB extension notice.
