JAMB’s Release of 279 Withheld 2026 UTME Results: Archived May Update

Historical report | Sources reviewed 26 October 2026

JAMB reported the release of 279 previously withheld UTME results after examining suspected malpractice cases. The announcement appears in the Board’s 25 May 2026 bulletin .

This article records that May development. It does not announce a fresh release in October or establish the present status of an individual candidate’s result.

What the announcement meant

The Board distinguished candidates cleared through its review from cases where results were cancelled or remained under investigation. A release affecting 279 candidates was not confirmation that every withheld result had become available.

The bulletin advised affected candidates to check through the designated result channel using the telephone number used for registration. The result-checking SMS command described in that notice was UTMERESULT , sent to 55019 or 66019 . This is a result-enquiry instruction, not an admission-acceptance instruction.

If your own result is unavailable

Record the exact response you receive and seek clarification through JAMB’s official support channels. Do not interpret another candidate’s successful result check as proof that your case has been cleared. Avoid anyone promising to erase an investigation, alter a score or privately “release” a result for payment.

Keep registration records and communications secure. Share only the information needed when contacting the Board, and do not post passwords, OTPs or full identity documents in a public comment.

Editorial update: We have added the dated JAMB source and historical context. The number 279 concerns the announcement in the May bulletin; it is not a current total of outstanding or newly released results.
