What an Admission Aggregate Calculator Can—and Cannot—Tell You

Reviewed 26 October 2026 | OGB Admission Hub
An admission aggregate calculator can help you understand a published scoring method. It cannot tell you with certainty that a university will offer you admission, and an aggregate percentage is not an admission probability.
Start with eligibility
Before comparing scores, check your subjects, qualifications and course choice. OGB’s UTME eligibility checker supports that initial review. A high score does not correct a missing compulsory subject or an unsuitable qualification.
Use the institution’s actual method
Open the admission calculator , choose the relevant school and course, and read the explanation of the model used. Supply only the inputs requested for that method. Do not substitute a percentage for weighted points, or use one university’s formula for another institution.
Where a current scoring method or required input is unavailable, a reliable next step is to seek the official instruction rather than invent a component. A calculator should explain its limits instead of manufacturing a precise-looking answer.
Interpret the result carefully
A screening minimum, a past departmental benchmark and a final admission outcome answer different questions. Compare only figures that use the same scale and relevant session. A previous cut-off can offer context, but it does not guarantee the threshold or outcome in a later year.
Selection can also depend on the institution’s published admission rules, available places and the completeness of your application. Keep checking your official application record and any instructions issued by the institution.
When to request a review
If the formula, entry route or qualification is unclear, use OGB’s public enquiry page or contact the institution. Ask which rule applies and request its source.
Editorial correction: This guide replaces a promotional announcement that described the tool as an admission predictor. The calculator is a preparation aid, not an offer, guarantee or percentage chance of admission.
